About
Braw are a Folk-Pop band based in Glasgow's southside, fronted by brothers Iain & Andrew Mundy. Think close harmonies and big, catchy pop choruses, all wrapped up in a folky tartan blanket.
โ
After a childhood spent learning music at their local brass band in Loanhead, Iain and Andrew came together to form Braw in 2019 when they realised – after a lot of whisky – that they could make some really braw close harmony sounds. At the time Iain was staying in the southside of Glasgow, but Andrew was up in Pittenweem in the east neuk of Fife. He initially commuted down to Glasgow for every open mic and gig, and it took the daftie a full year to move down to the southside.
Since joining up beside the Clyde, Iain and Andrew have taken their harmonies across the Glasgow music scene and beyond, travelling to gigs as far afield as Montrose & Banbury. They’ve also spent time recording, and in 2021 released their debut album, A Few Miles More, featuring single Whisky in Hand, which got their first airplay on BBC Radio Scotland. They then went on to gain notable popularity with their Euro 2020 song A Long Time Coming (We're Going to the Euros) and their name-dropping 2022 Scottish extravaganza When Scotland Called, the latter racking up over a million views on social media platform Tiktok.
Since June 2022, Braw have been bolstered on stage by the addition of Fiddler Colin McKee, Guitarist Andy Stevenson, Drummer Graham Proctor and Bassist Ben Lock, allowing them to fully showcase their anthemic Scottish sounds. They can get crowds singing along to their catchy celtic choruses, dancing along to their folky yet funky instrumentals, and they can’t wait to see what comes next.
